Hi! We're Jason and Lorelei Robbins and we LOVE helping people navigate the puppy months and build the best, well balanced dog they possibly can. We own and operate Cornerstone Dog Training in Utah so we actively use and teach all the good stuff you find in this book. We are parents of 7 (yes, you read that right) beautiful children and just one (for now) fun and amazing dog...oh and all the many, many "dogs in training" that come in and out of our home. Apart from dog training, Lorelei loves music, family time, and DIY projects. Jason is a full-time teacher and enjoys his little family crew.
We wrote this book to help people all over the world build a better dog. In our training in Utah we often work with severe cases in older dogs like aggression, anxiety, and hyperactivity. Often, these behaviors stem from issues in puppyhood. We set out to fix that! We want to reach as many people as possible to help them train their puppy right, giving them years of amazing memories to come!

What's inside the book
PHASE 1
Concept #1: Pressure/Release - Understanding this concept is key to good communication with your dog! The majority of dog owners don't even know about, much less understand, the fact that pressure/release is a natural way every dog interacts with the world. And we'll teach you how to tap into that. We'll show you how to couple pressure/release with food rewards and the combination is golden!
Concept #2: Manners, Manners - Yep, we're talking biting, nipping, jumping, barking, chewing, scratching, etc. Learn how to combat these issues in the moment in a clear and loving way as well how to extinguish the behaviors over the long term.
Concept #3: Kennel Training - You'll learn the secrets to teaching your puppy that the kennel is a wonderful space to decompress...and you'll learn how it is your most important potty training tool. Yep, good stuff here!
Concept #4: Potty Training - Let's face it, this is a huge concern for almost all puppy owners. And if it's not, it should be! Learn the secret tips to getting your puppy not only pottying outside, but in a designated area of your choosing.
Concept #5: Come Command- Here we lay the foundation for even more beautiful things to come. You'll begin to get your puppy to focus on you (heavenly, right?). Plus it's the beginning of what will eventually be a solid heel command as well as your dog learning to come as a reflex every time you call. Ya, let's get headed down that beautiful road! Can we get an amen?!
PHASE 2
Concept #6: Sit and Down Commands - This isn't your every day sit command. Okay...well, at first it is. BUT...this is just the beginning. We're here to teach you the secrets of how to turn those sit and down commands into FUNCTIONAL and RELIABLE commands that can be used in any setting. Not just a cute trick your puppy can do for a second before popping up and running off.
Concept #7: Eye Contact and Release Command - Oh ya, this is where it gets good! Not only will this concept rock your world, but it will melt your heart. (Who doesn't love puppy eyes looking right at them?) And the release command is the secret to build in commands that don't have an expiration date until you say so. It truly is a game changer.
Concept #8: Socialization/ Composure TrainingPart 1- It's common knowledge that socializing a puppy at certain ages is critical, but unfortunately it is NOT common knowledge to know how to do it WELL. And most don't realize that your puppy needs socialized to more than just other people and dogs. We're talking all sorts of sounds, surfaces, and physical touch. And we've got the secrets all here for you. The how, the when, and the what to be able to do it WELL. So very important!
PHASE 3
Concept #9: Boundaries - Here we welcome other key players to your dog's future success and happiness: the wait and place commands. Implementing and clearly communicating these boudaries will make a world of difference to your dog and to YOUR mental sanity.
Concept #10: Heel command - Ahhh...That beautiful, calm walk through the neighborhood. Can you picture it? Walking peacefully side by side with your dog as you wave at your friends and pass by other dogs and runners and bicyclist and young kids with ease. Can this be a reality with a young puppy? HECK NO! BUT...keep that vision in your mind because that's exactly where we're headed. We will teach you the secrets to getting those walks headed in the right direction so your dog can seamlessly mature into your "walk of dreams" walkmate. (Walkmate? Can we make that a word?)
PHASE 4
Concept #11: 7 Socialization/ Composure Training Part 2 - Now your pup is ready to meet new people and dogs. And do it the right way! We will teach you how. A little hint: you'll be utilizing things your puppy has learned in the previous phases to make the interactions the best they can possibly be. The positive effects of doing this wellwell well and doing it now will pay off for years to come.
Concept #12: Field Trips- Learn the secrets to taking your puppy out and about and having a good experience while doing it. Again, positive dividends for years to come. (Okay, so we just looked up the word dividend. Perhaps this isn't the correct usage, but you get the idea.:)
Concept #13: Touch Pad and Touch Stick Games - These games are a lot of fun! Use them to get your puppy's mind working and your relationship blossoming.
